A small but superlative nursery, Eltzroth & Thompson, was opened in 1971, and now, 50 years later, Carol and Dan Eltzroth's son, Jay, continues the family tradition started by his parents and their good friend, Jim Thompson, of growing top-quality plants, flowers, shrubs, and trees for the Charlottesville area. The greenhouse goes out of its way to make staff available to customers with questions, and offers design inspiration and conversation about gardening to anyone interested.
